One of the most sought-after concert baritones in Hungary, he has performed bass and baritone solos in all the major oratorios with such ensembles as the Orfeo Orchestra, Vox Luminis, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Danubia Orchestra, Budapest Strings, Concerto Budapest, Pannon Philharmonic, Kodály Philharmonic, and Savaria Baroque, under the direction of György Vashegyi, Helmuth Rilling, Alois Glaßner, Salamon Kamp and Máté Hámori among others.
Besides concert work Lóránt is also well-versed in the operatic and contemporary repertoire. He has sung all the Mozart baritone roles with various companies in the US and Hungary. Most recently audiences could enjoy his performances of Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Budapest Strings and Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Savaria Baroque. Lóránt created the role of Teresias in László Melis’ Bakkhánsnők and performed newly commissioned songs by Endre Olsvay at the CAFÉ Budapest Modern Music Festival.
Mr. Najbauer has garnered awards from numerous vocal competitions including 1 st place in the Virginia Hawk Vocal Scholarship, Musical Merit Foundation and H.B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition, and 2 nd place at the La Jolla Young Artists Competition as well as at the Simandy József International Opera Competition.
He was awarded 3 rd prize in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Western Regional Finals. Besides his work in opera and concert, Lóránt is also an avid recitalist. He has given liederabends in San Diego (CA), Los Angeles (CA), New Haven (CT), Milford (CT), Pécs (Hungary) and most recently for the Franz Liszt Society of Budapest.
Lóránt graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in Economics and from Yale University with an M.A. in Music. In his free time Lóránt enjoys hiking, espresso and getting to know different cultures and customs.
